Two persons have been confirmed dead and 15 others rescued after a boat crashed at Powerline, Ikoyi Link Bridge on Wednesday, February 21.
The Seventeen passenger boat was heading to Ikorodu when it suddenly caved-in following a lone accident.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) in a statement released said the crash was caused by a rise in tide. It said that the rider rammed into a high-tension pole that was flooded by water which led to the capsize of the boat.
The agency confirmed that two persons, a male and a female died from the accident, adding that 15 others were rescued unhurt. LASWA said the deceased female was retrieved from the water while a search was on for the male.
“The body of an adult female was retrieved from the water and subsequently transported from the incident scene to LASWA head office at Falomo before being was confirmed dead by the LRU paramedics. The adult female remains have been bagged and await the arrival of the SEHMU officials. The search for the body of the adult male is ongoing,” the agency said
